All I Want for Christmas is my Two Front Teeth

Blogging has been light, because in addition for attempting to pack up the family for a week on the road, Cody has been teething something fierce. They're trying so hard to come through, but so far, he's still my little gummy bear. But in lots of pain. He's been cranky, grumpy, whiny, sleepless, and tearful -- all very unusual states for Cody.

Zweibeck seemed to help at first, and he just demolishes them. Oh, what tragic little peepers.

Then we tried the cold washcloth, which was also kind of ok.

But then I had a genius idea: cold celery sticks. Too hard to bite off and choke on, but malleable enough to gum. At first he doesn't know what to think...

But then decided it was pretty ok.

Sadly, that faccia hasn't been around too much. We are hoping the weeping and gnashing of gums will soon be at an end.

Teething Wings

"And the angel said unto them, 'Fear not EAT MY WING!'"

Good tidings of great joy, indeed.

Good Things Come In Big Packages

LOOK WHAT I GOT IN THE MAIL!!

A BOX!! WITH A ZEBRA INSIDE! I DON'T KNOW WHICH IS MORE FUN!

Little Bear's First Robe

Aunt Hannah came over yesterday and brought me a present! It was an amazing bag! With Santa! And paper inside to crackle and eat!

Oh wait, there was even ANOTHER present inside that present! It was a robe! With a little bear on it and my initials! It is so big on me but I will grow into it and Mom says it is perfect for wrapping me up after by baths.

Away In A Manger

Or as he hears more frequently, "Away from the manger!" Still, pretty cute.

It's official: He's a boy.

Did I mention that Tupperware is the best toy ever?

And did you know it came in RED? Merry Christmas to ME!

My Dad is the FUNNEST!

Along Came Polly

On Sunday Polly and Joe came to visit me! They are so, so special to Mommy and Daddy. And now they are special to me too! Joe is so big and cuddly and Polly let me walk all around with her! Thank you for coming to see me!

P.S. Polly and Joe were the first people to visit me when I was born ('cept for Granny and Pop-Pop and Aunt Monika) -- see?

I can do much more stuff now. But I was cute then, too, wasn't I?

Look, Ma! No hands!

Well, almost.

Here Comes Santa Claus

Oh my goodness! You won't even BELIEVE all the things that happened today! Kelly! Cupcakes! Trees inSIDE our house! Santa!!!

Ok. Let me start from the beginning. When I woke up from my morning nap, AUNT KELLY was here!! I love her. We had such a good time.

Look! Our hair matches! Sticking up to the sky!

Then, we went to run an errand where there were lots and lots of trees. It was so cool! But then it was time for another nap. And when I woke up, look what was INSIDE MY HOUSE!

Can you believe it? Mom says I can't touch and pull the lights but I'm just going to wait until she is in the kitchen. But wait -- there's more! Then we went to Buzz. That's pretty normal. But GUESS WHO WAS THERE?

SANTA CLAUS!!

He game me a candy cane! Mom said it was too little and I might choke but that's ok because I really, really liked the wrapper. Here I am with Sully.

But then it got even better. Mommy said it was a special day and it was time I tried a baby cupcake. YESSSSS! I knew she would give in if I stared at them long enough and looked really cute! It was SO YUMMY, especially the icing...

When do you think she will let me drink coffee? I will ask again tomorrow. She's a softie.

All in all, it was just an awesome day.

Croupy Cody

Poor Cody woke up around midnight Tuesday sounding like a little whelping seal. He was even feeling too punky to flirt with the pretty nurses when we took him to the doctor. Sure enough, he has croup. Poor thing has been hacking and trying so hard to breathe comfortably at night, but is thoroughly enjoying the many trips to the "steam room," also known as the only full bathroom. His distress eases visibly when he hears us turn on the shower. Aside from being lethargic (for Cody, that is) he is being a real trooper.

I've been sleeping in his room so I can lift him upright when it gets really bad at night, and this morning had the amusing pleasure of seeing his little morning routine without him realizing I was in the room. He chats with Patches, messes with his blanket, and spends a LOT of time turning on his fish and communing with them. But then the real action starts. He's now standing all the way up. Yikes.

(These are from yesterday -- no, I don't actually sleep with the camera. :)

Santa Baby

Here's a preview of the Christmas card options. (And no, Mom, you can't get 5 different Christmas cards...: )

8 Months Old!

Cody is 8 months old today. HOW DID THAT HAPPEN??

He got an excellent prize, compliments of Craigslist. He didn't look up the rest of the evening.

Tuesday is one of my days off, and we had a fantastic time together. But the best part was when he said....

"MAMA MAMA MAMAMAMAMAMA!"

And I thought life couldn't get any better. (I'm pretty sure it was accidental elocution, but it didn't matter a whit. I've been waiting for that ever since this...)
