An Important Milestone

Cody and I baked cupcakes for the first time.

And he had the batter. It was...awesome.

Cody's First Stogie

Cody woke up Thursday morning to the most fantastic surprise: POP-POP!

He had a couple of clear days and came down to paint Cody's new playroom, which now looks spectacular. There's nothing in it yet, but the walls are amazing. Anyway, Cody and Pop-Pop had a grand ol' time. In accordance with the long grandfather-grandson tradition, they played with Cody's train...

Trekked to the playground to enjoy the swings...

Played footsie at dinner...

And then, you know, shared a cigar.

This was one of the funniest moments of CJP's life. As soon as he saw it, he made a grab, and stuck it right in there. Looked like a natural. Someday he will join this motley crew:

It was such a great couple of days. We wish Pop-Pop lived closer! Here is sad Cody, kissing his Pop-Pop goodbye.

Falling for Fall

Shakespeare once said, "sweater season is the cutest season." At least I think it was Shakespeare. It's possible I'm wrong, but nevertheless, it's true.

Here's the Codester, enjoying the great outdoors.

A very interesting drain-pothole-cover-thingie.

Bulldozing sandcastles.

Fascinating dirt.

Thinking about how best to go about that putt.

Back in his Old Town stomping grounds.

This kid is awesome.

J. Crew Jetty

This is what Cody wore to church on Sunday. : )

This one looks like he's winking conspiratorially about how cute he is. (Michael Bluth: "How much do I have to pay you never to make that face again?")

And this morning, he spied his ring-bearer pillow from Hannah's wedding, and shrieked, "BACKPACK! ON! BACKPACK! ON!" He only wore it for about 2 minutes, and was slightly less dashing in his shark jammies than his seersucker suit, but it was still pretty cute.

He then proclaimed, "BACKPACK! OFF! ROBBIE!"

I Heart Craigslist

Now that we're in the new house, it has become clear that Cody's baby toys just aren't cutting it. He's been patient, but it was time for some real stuff. The trouble is, it's all outrageously expensive. And who wants to drop hundreds of bucks on brand-new toys a kid will eventually grow bored with/grow out of? As it turns out, a lot of people. Just not me. I turned to my new best friend, Craig and his excellent List, and hit the jackpot. Check out the new swag...

All for a whopping $150. I looked up many of the toys online, and collectively, my stash is probably worth over $1,000. I say "worth" loosely, of course. We brought it all out back with a hose and sponge, and it's good as new, not like Cody knows the difference. After all, there is sand to be dug, there are trains to be ridden, and there is grass to be mown. ("MOW MOW MOW MOW!")

These are for you, Granny

So the other day, Cody grew quite concerned that Baby's Button might have disappeared. Immediately, he demanded "SHIRT! OFF!" so he could check.

Phew. No emergency! Back to the fire engine.

Then, we wandered downstairs for some reason, and the second he saw the door to the guest room, he bellowed, "GRANNY?? GRANNY!!!!" He was crestfallen when he saw the room was empty.

But a moment later was all giggles--a natural consequence of Mommy letting him jump on the bed. I figured Granny wouldn't say no, so why should I?

Catching Up

Hi everyone! It has been such a busy week. Mommy has had to work so much. She says September is the cruelest month at FBI. We're not in our usual routine, but in the meantime, I've done some really good playing. Here's what I've been up to...

On Saturday, we did some unpacking. It is MUCH more fun than packing! Mommy kept unwrapping dish after dish and I got to play in the bubble wrap! It was awesome! You stamp on it and it goes POP! And then you yell "POP!" and you giggle all day.

Then, Aunt Monika (currently pronounced Mok-i-na) and Uncle Sean came to see my new house! We played with all my stuff. Uncle Sean is excellent at playing trucks. (And also at building really really tall towers with my blocks so I can knock them right over!)

The we played my new favorite game, Ring Around The Rosie. We did it again and again!

The best part is where we all fall down. I say "CRASH!"

And today, I took Mommy to the most amazing playground that Daddy and I discovered on Labor Day. We had a boys day and found this place. It is AWESOME. Dad has more pictures but Mom can't find them, so this will give you a little sense of its awesomeness. It has swings and slides and bridges and pebbles and I can say ALL those things!

Tomorrow's Friday, and I'm really looking forward to the weekend with Mom. This work stuff is overrated I think.
