GAC and GUB
Aunt Cheryl and Uncle Bob came to visit me for my birthday and to meet my sister!

We had the best time! Mom calls them AC and UB and since they are my great aunt and uncle, I call them GAC and GUB. We played, and I showed Uncle Bob my whole street and yard. And Cheryl planted so many flowers for Mommy -- some of them were from Mommy's Granny's garden a long time ago! Her name was Mary, just like my sister's middle name! And now her garden will grow in our garden. Isn't that cool? It was also cool when we watered them with the hose and I accidentally sprayed Uncle Bob and he got all wet!

Thank you for driving all the way to Virginia, and for such a great visit! I love you!

The Giant and the Peanut
A boy after his Pop-Pop's heart
So I had a genius idea for passing some time the other day while I fed Cordelia -- introduce Cody to the concept of car-washing. His fire engine and car were covered in pollen, and so out came the hose.

It was a blessed hour for both of us. He didn't stop there, though. Pop-Pop, before you know it he'll be waxing on and off like Mr. Miyagi.

Public Service Announcement
Recent studies have shown that sleep deprivation can lead to a variety of adverse effects, including nausea, light-headedness, partial paralysis, narcolepsy, and impaired cognitive function and judgment. For instance:
Our hedges needed trimming. Cody wanted to help. It seemed to me a very bad idea to let Cody hold the hedge trimmer while we did the work. But having him in the backpack while we wield the mighty blade? That sounds like a great idea! What could possibly go wrong?
When you call Child Protective Services, you'll want to note the dangling electrical cord.

Cody is Two!
Happy belated birthday, little dude! We celebrated all weekend, with family and friends coming just to see Cordelia Cody! He got some ridiculously awesome presents, starting with Daddy's Avengers Number Two and Mom's slightly more practical for the day-to-day Water Table. A stroke of genius, if you ask me.

Aunt Hannah's birthday visit was a special highlight--and not just because she had trains to give.

We ended a great day with Five Guys and ice cream -- what better way to end the 730th day of his life?

The next day, we did it all over again. (The key to having a second child is to give birth just before the first child's birthday, so he thinks all the fuss is about him.) He had a fantastic time with all his loved ones.

But the most genius present of all--aside from Grandma Robbie's birthday card, which plays music every time you open it--was his new forklift fork from his Uncle Chris, which really came in handy when it was time for his birthday cake. : )

And lest you find yourself terribly impressed by my post-natal blogging prowess, I hereby admit that I just spelled "genius" wrong the first time I posted this.
