Emma Dilemma

She is a child of many moods.

You Give Me Fever

I have so many things to catch up on … this blog among them, but C&C have been hit with adenovirus, which is going around. Emma, mercifully (knock wood) has somehow escaped, but it took Cody down for five full days — he missed three days of school. Thanksgiving Day he was almost as good as new. Thanksgiving night, Cordelia's temperature shot up to 103. It has hovered between 102 and 105.6 since then. So…more soon, but in the meantime, I need to take care of these sweet faces, noses, bellies, aching limbs, and red eyes.

Fall Roundup

The past few weeks have been so nutty I only just realized I had set up this post but never hit "publish." So, here we are, a little late, with some highlights from November.

On All Saints Day, we spent a fantastic afternoon at Steve and Carrie Hayes's home, which Cody refers to as "a mansion." It has A LOT of land, which was spectacular for the 40+ kids who were there. There were probably 100 adults or so, mostly TWS people. One gets the sense a "staff party" for the Nation or New Republic would not look like this…

Above is Sabrina Matus, a couple months older than CML. Below is Michael Matus, born about 7 weeks before Cody.
The first time these two were together, they looked like this. :)

The next week was Grandparents Day at CMS! The kids were thrilled that Pop Pop was able to travel down for the weekend.

Mom stayed for the afternoon with Cody, and Cora and I played hooky while E napped. We played Monopoly, too. It turns out that Cordelia IS a Republican. She took to it like a bird to a nest, and as soon as she realized I'd have to pay her if I ended up on her property, she bought up the whole board. She kicked my butt. And…reveled in it.

We were hoping to go to Cox Farms in the morning, but it was a rainy day. A looooong rainy day! So we went to Michael's and each of them picked out a craft for the afternoon. Then, we went … bowling.

I haven't bowled since I was 17, and with JVL. Mom hasn't bowled…in longer. But she was AWESOME. I keep trying to convince her to join a league. Quilters 'n' Strikers?
How did we even make this exquisite child?

Cody insisted on a heavy ball.
It made him happy.
The highlight was when Emma got a strike!

She was delighted…until she realized that meant she didn't get a second turn. This … displeased her.
That afternoon, Aunt Kelly and Fiona came over to play and the girls had the best time together. Isn't Fi scrumptious?! Emma just tells everyone who'll listen, "I have a COUSIN named FIONA and she is ALSO TWO!"

A boy after Kelly's heart.

Happy Fall!
