"HAPPY!"

Yesterday's new word was "happy." Or, in Cody's bellowing voice, "HAPPPPY!!! HAPPPPYYY!"

Yep, I suppose he is. : )

And speaking of happy, Happy Birthday Uncle BJ!!

Someday, he'll be someone's dream guy.

These days, Cody is obsessed with All Things Potty. JVL hates -- LOATHES -- the word "potty," and is trying in vain to get him to say "loo." But Cody just grins and hollers, "POTTY? POTTY?" His little friend Elora, who is not yet two, is totally trained, and Cody has become fascinated with the whole process.

He doesn't actually go on it. He sits there, often, and says helpfully, "POOP! PEE! PEEEE-NIS!" It's kind of horrifying, but cute. Kind of. I suspect we're nowhere near actually achieving anything, but I suppose the idea is just for him to be comfortable and interested.

Which he is. : )

As JVL mentioned, at least we can say this for him: he always puts the seat down.

Woodbridge Baths Are Even Better

Spray 'N Play

Today we made an amazing discovery: The Springwoods SprayGround. CJP and I were off in search of a playground near our house, when suddenly he started pointing wildly and saying "POOL! POOL!" We pulled up, and sure enough, there it was in all its glory. We immediately went to explore (turns out the playground is right behind here!) and of course, Cody was interested in getting as wet as possible, as soon as possible. We hadn't packed for that.

He was elated. He ignored pretty much everything except this Cody-sized fountain that, amazingly, came out of the ground! He got right down to splash.

The best part -- and somehow this did not cease to be fascinating for 30 minutes -- was that the water would suddenly recede. Where'd it go? Cody would look puzzled, then do a sort of Dance of Sorrow/Dance of Joy thing, and shriek, "UP! UP!"

And up it would come. He was pretty sure he was pulling some sort of Harry Potter, and was quite pleased with himself every time he "made it happen."

Then he would shriek, "BACK IN!" and away the water would go, only to rise up again, much to his delight.

There's video, but I can't get it to upload now. When our Chief Technology Officer arrives home tonight, I'll put him on the case -- because it's FUNNY. : )

Lord of the Rings

On Saturday, Hannah and John got married. There will be much more later, here's a basic recap:

Last Wednesday, Hannah came over so that she could see Cody one last time as a single woman. Anticipating Tom's duties at the wedding, Cody kissed and hugged her in preparation for giving her away to John.

At the ceremony on Saturday, Cody performed his own duties admirably, wearing his ring-bearer backpack and walking the aisle with grace and aplomb.

A moment later, Hannah and Tom followed him down the aisle.

It was all as lovely as can be. More to follow.

Water, water everywhere...and lots of drops to drink!

Most exciting invention ever (according to Cody): "SPRINK-UH!" He saw...

He went...

He kind of freaked out. But then went back for more.

And then had some cheese puffs. : )

Then, "pool pool!!"

The adventure continues, with Cody discovering the joys of the sprayer.

He love love loved being sprayed -- was soaked by the end -- but spent the majority of his time sucking down water, then coughing and sneezing, then drinking all over again. And again.

"Oh shit!"

The Vegas oddsmakers are stunned. Cody uttered his first curse word yesterday, and it wasn't my fault.

While driving, Shannon made the aforementioned exclamation. Cody repeated it. Somewhere in Washington, I smiled.

If he doesn't get the f-bomb from me, though, I'll be very sad.

"BEACH!" (Cody's favorite new word)

On Thursday of our vacation, we had a giant, long thunderstorm. Cody learned to say "thunder," and also "boom!" One particular crack was so loud it woke him from his nap, and when I peeked in, he was sitting at the far end of his crib, waving madly and saying "BYE BYE, BOOM!" with a rather anxious look on his face.

You can see here how the water was covering about 1/3 of the tires on Mom's car.

We decided to take blanket and Patches outside to see what it was all about. Turned out to be a big male bonding thing, watching the crazy weather from the balcony with Uncle John and Dad.

Saturday dawned clear, bright, and perfect.

Daddy and Uncle John, pronounced emphatically, "DON!"

Pop-Pop and Uncle John, chilling on the beach.

Giggling with his Godmother.

Suddenly serious.

Digging with Daddy.

Getting tickled (again) by Mark.

Here's Cody playing with his friend Evie.

If only I had known before how his attention span would lengthen exponentially if given a bucket.

That silly Pop-Pop!

Cody was fascinated by the beach bag -- can you tell?

Our happy little baby had a fantastic time. It's always so hard to leave -- we can hardly wait for August 2010!
