Hi, Uncle Brad Pitt Sean!

Cody's said some awfully adorable things in the past few days, and I don't want to forget them. So, they don't really have anything to do with one another, but here is some random cuteness...

Yesterday, he picked up his little cell phone and said, "Hi Jesus! How's it going?" After a pause, "Are you working?" Then, turning to me, "Mom? Can we sneak up on Jesus?!"

A few days ago, he had his first sip of root beer. After 5 days of being snowed in, JVL ventured out to Five Guys to bring back some burgers. Cody ate two, plus some hot dog, then got his hands on JVL's soda. He guzzled, then said, "Mommy I'm BOUNCING off the WALLS!"

But here's my favorite. The other day, I was catching up on an old issue of Wired, which has a grizzled Brad Pitt on the cover. Cody walked over, glanced at it, and said confidently, "That's Uncle Sean." I said, "It is? THAT is Uncle Sean on the magazine?" He then stroked Brad's goatee and said, "Uh-huh Mommy! Hi, Uncle Sean!"

He's been bonding with him ever since.

When he's not reading the Wall Street Journal.

Or, banging on a pot.

Faster, and More Dangerous

The secret is the Gore-Tex snow pants, which lower your coefficient of friction to asymptotically approach 0.

Snowpocalypse 2010, Part Deux

Cody decided that a single 30-minute nap (with no lunch) was plenty, and that it was time for The Great Snow Walk of 2010. Spirits both broken and amused by the shrieks of hilarity coming from his crib ("Where's Patches? THERE HE IS! POP goes the weasel! Peek-a-boo, Bidi! Ashes, ashes, WE ALL FALL DOWN!"), we relented and out we went (and mercifully, he is now napping. Supposedly.) Anyway, we trekked through the neighborhood (as you can see, not a plow in sight) and to the school, where we had quite the adventure...

Cody munched on icicles all the way there.

We stopped to watch the big kids sledding, but Daddy and Cody had other plans...

SNOW SLIDING!!

"Daddy! That's a CAR under the snow!"

Snowpocalypse 2010

On Friday night, the storm began....

Hmm. That's a lot of snow.

I'm not sure how I feel about it.

Where did my mailbox go?

Helping Daddy shovel and sweep.

Showing Mom how it's done.

Ok. Now for the real action.

Uh-oh!!

Ok Daddy. That's enough. Let's head back.

Nope, not our dog -- Cassie the Snow Dog, who belongs to our neighbor.

Back inside, snug as a bug!

We All Live in a Yellow Shopping Cart

Yesterday was the best trip to the market EVER. Here's why.

Instead of "All done market Mommy?" all I heard, aside from repeated beeping, was "More more shopping, Mommy! No checkout please!"

Snow!

This past weekend, Cody was delighted to wake up and find snow! The first words out of his mouth: "Cody and Daddy go outside and shovel in the SNOW!" And so they did. By "they," of course, I mean that Daddy shoveled, and Cody cracked the whip, saying, "More more shoveling, Daddy!" any time poor Jonathan would take a break. Cody helped, of course, by bringing out what he called his "snowmower." Kind of like a snowblower, though ever so slightly less effective.

The only way to get him inside was to "suggest" a warm bath, and we sweetened the pot by offering a lollipop IN the bath. VERY exciting. : )

Gymboree!

I broke down and signed him up -- the cold and snow and consequent cabin fever are just killing us. Cody seems to like it so far (particularly the part where Miss Tiffany blows bubbles) and he gets to play with his little buddy Violet to boot!

I was particularly struck by how easy it is for him to do...well, anything physical. He hasn't encountered ladders of this sort ever, and he just stands there, surveys them each, figures out what makes sense, and then somehow he just does it. Is this a boy thing? He certainly didn't get that kind of coordination from his mama.

But of course, this was the highlight:

Exhibit B, for all those who tell me Cody is "advanced"

(He was listening to this song whose lyrics go, "Put your toes to your nose." : )
