Afternoon Snooze

Hi Dad! I snoozed today to make the time go by faster until you are home. But now I am awake!

Acting Out

Daddy's gone again and I'm sad about it. After I threw up on Mom she made me take a nap. But when I woke up I did some other gross stuff, in case she didn't understand the first time. Mom says if cleanliness is next to godliness then I have done some unholy things today. She also muttered something about "unseemly" and "unconscionable" and asked how many shirts she would have to go through today (hers not mine) and then...SHE STUCK ME IN THE TUB!!!!



If I had KNOWN I could get middle of the day baths just by being gross, I would do it ALL THE TIME! Mommy said not to press my luck.

Still, I will do whatever it takes to make sure I still get my bedtime bath...

5 More Days 'Til Dad is Back

Cody and JVL had a great night and morning, with lots of cuddles and playing.



Sadly, JVL is already back on a plane on his way to Minneapolis for the second convention. Cody was so upset when we walked JVL outside that he decided to demonstrate his displeasure by throwing up. Down my shirt. Charming. Sigh...this could be a long day.

Convention Swag

Hey, Cody has been so distracted by Daddy being home that I've been able to take a turn blogging. JVL brought back all sorts of fun stuff for us from the convention. Namely this:

When Cody gazed upon it, he got a certain glazed look in his eyes, as if he were maybe full of Hope. Turns out he was full -- of something else -- and like so many other young Americans, was really just yearning for a Change.

I can't even tell you how great it is to have my boys back, even if it's only for 16 hours. Cody will be sad when JVL takes off for Minneapolis and will wonder if we can make it another week.

Friday I'm in Love

Today was so good. Mom says today was as great as yesterday was grim. I don't know what that means but I got two walks! And lots of stories! And I got to watch Roger Federer play tennis!



Also, I found my toes. For real this time. I have found them before but by accident. Now I know where they are and how to find them again. Isn't that awesome? When Mommy touches them I laugh! It tickles!



Mommy said she loves me more today than ever. But that she loves me even when I'm cranky. But that she was glad I wasn't cranky today. Anyway, I blew right through naptime today, so I think I'm going to go sleep now. Goodnight Daddy!

Giggles McGee

Sitting Duck

DADDY! LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT MY DAY SO FAR!!

I had a GREAT sleep! So good! And then Mommy needed coffee so we walked to Buzz...but when we got outside IT WAS RAINING!!! Mom said she didn't mind if I didn't. And so we pretended we were ducks and we went out for a rainwalk! Mom said even Mommy ducks need their coffee! Daddy it was SO AWESOME and the water just went off our backs like water off a duck's back!

And then I took a nap. With Patches.


And THEN, after lunch, Mommy and I were reading and I was in her lap and I decided it was time to try SITTING!! I DID IT DADDY!!! LOOK!!!






Mom says strictly speaking I was more tripoding than sitting because I'm kind of bent in half, but that I was so strong and so big and doing so great! And then I toppled over. And Mommy said ABOOM and we giggled!



I can't wait to see you tomorrow and SHOW YOU ALL THIS!! I LOVE YOU DAD!

These zoolike sounds translate roughly to: "AAAAAAH! EEEEEK!! EEEAAAHAHAHEEEAAAA!"

P.S. In case you were worried I had gotten back into my sorts before you got home you can stop worrying! Before I went to bed I threw up, pooped, and peed on Mom! She called it the Trifecta of Doom. I aimed for the fresh clean jammies she had set out and I GOT them! It was awesome. Mommy sighed at me many times and then put my in the bath. And then Baby Bellagio struck again! Mommy didn't want me to know it but I could hear her giggling under her breath. She said on days like this you just have to laugh. So I did good, Daddy, I made her laugh!! : ) I love you Dad. I am going to sleep now and Mom says we can blow you kisses!

Rainy Thursday

Hi Dad! Mom says you are coming home tomorrow, just for a little while! I can't wait! I miss you. Today is not so good. I woke up at 3:00 and cried and cried. I think I had a bad dream. Mom said all that talk of people making 3 a.m. phone calls must have gotten inside my head. She rocked me and then I felt better. Then I slept again, but today I am just grouchy and tired and cranky. Mommy keeps talking to Mary and asking her for patience. We can't wait to HUG YOU! Mom and I decided we will all feel in our sorts again when our family is together. She said I am out of my sorts. Or something. Mom talks to me a lot but I don't always understand what the heck she is talking about. So I just talk back really loud. I know she knows what I mean.

Cleaning Up Cody

New Horizons

OH MY GOODNESS I GOT A NEW TOY! It is called an EXERSAUCER! It used to belong to my Godbrother James and it is AMAZING! I don't have to lie down on my playmat anymore -- now I can practice my sitting and standing and bouncing and lurching and launching and IT IS AWESOME!! I am the happiest baby in the world!! THANK YOU JAMES!! THANK YOU ZIA STEFANIA!!!

Tuesdays with Granny

HI DADDY! What a good day I had! I woke up and Granny was here! Look! We both have crazy hair in the morning!


And then Mommy went to work and Granny and I sang and danced and read and bounced and rocked and walked and played. Then Mommy came home and we did flying! And then we played!




And then I had SO MUCH CEREAL and Daddy you watched me eat dinner! I saw you "on the computer!" It was so cool! Did you see how much better I am with my spoon? Mom said if only my blog had audio because I did SUCH good talking when you were looking at me!!

Low-Key Day

Jetty slept on his tummy last night. Every time I went in to check on him, I flipped him over, but he'd just flip back. I gave up on trying to sleep in my room with the monitor on and just camped out in my chair in his room. Much better. He slept like a champ.



Today was pretty low-key. Cody came to work with me for awhile (I say "work" loosely, and no, I wouldn't say I've been "missing" it) and charmed the pants off the secretaries in the Director's office. He interrupted a meeting between the Deputy Director and the head of our Phoenix office. (Not my fault, the secretary brought him in.) Cody was all smiles until the DD picked him up -- and he's about 6-foot-7, which was just a little too high up. The Lip came out but then went quickly away once he got to stand on the big conference table. Then out came the signature open-mouthed grin. He also showed off his rolling. He's like a show pony.

The rest of the day was pretty contemplative. He thought about his fish, he thought about his swing, he thought about the U.S. Open (and got to watch some, too), he thought about his daddy.

Vile Bodies

Well, it had to happen sometime, I suppose. Unfortunately, it happened while JVL was away and I had no extra hands. I won't go into the particulars. But suffice it to say, Jetty had to have two baths. And the bath had to be scrubbed in between. Which is why he is wrapped in my towel (first one I could grab) sitting in his bouncy chair.



Again I say, Babies Are Gross. But again, Cody thought it was awesome. He got TWO baths, after all. And, a grown-up size bath sheet, which was fun to play in. Nothing but upsides.

Sigh. : )

I miss you, Daddy...

But Mom said I can hug you "on the computer" so HERE IS A GOODNIGHT HUG!!! I LOVE YOU!

Sleeping Beauty

Hi Dad! Mommy said I could blog just for you while you are away! I miss you! But I listened to what you said about being good for Mommy and I slept last night from 7:30 until 5:00! And now I am napping again! Isn't it great how I can blog and nap at the same time? Mommy is letting me run around in my diaper because it's so hot! We went to church this morning! I was so good! I was supposed to rest but I didn't want to so instead I stood and I rocked and I giggled and I sang SO LOUD! I made more joyful noises! And I got a blessing from Monsignor J! And I got to sit by the organ! It was awesome. Ok I'm going to go rest again now. See? I LOVE YOU DADDY!

HI DADDY!!!!

Well, JVL is off to the conventions. Jetty and I are going it alone. It was really weird not being together for dinner. Jetty had cereal -- here are the before and after shots. (I could do this every day. Probably will.)





We had a good time. As you can see Cody "helped" me out by reaching for the spoon with what JVL calls "The Right Hand of Doom." He was so good that he got an extra long bath, but he wasn't that into it. There was only some halfhearted splashing and sucking on the washcloth. Probably because I wasn't his Dad. And then he went to bed and it was time for me to eat.

Is it wrong to have pepperoni from the bag for supper, followed by blueberry pie? When I say "followed by," I really mean "at the same time as."

I hope not. Miss you, babe.

Proud Mary Cody (and Mama too!)

This afternoon, I put CJP down on his playmat on his back and went to my room to get my sneakers so we could go for a walk. When I came back about 45 seconds later, he was on his hands and knees. I missed it again! But this time it was no accident. He finally has figured it out, and rolled over and over the rest of the afternoon. Here's the frame-by-frame, à la Michael Phelps (Cody was just as triumphant, too):






Of course, I thought he was motivated to reach this cool rattle he has that lights up and plays music. But it turns out he was motivated by narcissism. Because look! There's Cody! Ahh, he could just stare at that kid all day long.

And just to clarify, JVL isn't actually naked in these pictures. But he is the Giver of the Bath in this household and winds up soaked anyway due to Cody's love of splashing. : )
