And then there's the Jesus stuff. While Cody has, of course, received the blessings of the Holy Spirit and the love of the Christ, I think it's safe to say that his own appreciation of the triune God is, at this point, more atmospheric than intellectual. For instance, he loves the organ and the bells at church. And today, he started going after a cross for the first time.
Whether Cody was reflecting on the solemness of the Lenten season or simply looking for something else to chew on, I really can't say. But the purity of his yearning put me in mind of a verse from the modern-day Christian poet K. West:
I ain't here to argue about his facial features
Or here to convert atheists into believers
I'm just trying to say the way school need teachers
The way Kathie Lee needed Regis that's the way I need Jesus.
