Movin' On Up

Well, we survived the move. Rather well, all things considered, though it has been a complete zoo. But the day before we moved -- after hours of packing and taping and boxing and maybe a little swearing -- our dear friends at Buzz threw us a going-away party, which was refreshing and just perfect. Cody started his dinner with cake -- first with a spoon, then his hands, then just dove right in, face-first.

Here's Cody and his Sully -- he will so miss seeing her every day, but we promise to visit often!!

Here are Cody and Daddy, reading and saying prayers in our last night in the place that has been home Cody's whole little life. (Sniff, sniff.)

And the next day...the move! It went surprisingly smoothly, save for a few minor fiascos. Cody was deeply confused by his "new house" and did a lot of clinging at first (and that night, woke up screaming at 3:30: "MAMA! MAAAAAAMA!!!" having no idea where he was). But as usual, he found everything pretty interesting, and soon went into adventure mode. The cutest was him staring out the window at the deck, which looks a lot like the deck at our condo pool, and saying over and over, "Pool? Pool!" No wait, the cutest was his sheer joy at having an ice machine in his OWN REFRIGERATOR. No, no, the cutest was watching him learn to negotiate the step into the sunken living room (easy to miss) and repeating our instructions: "SIT! SCOOT!" out loud.

I have to say, I'm not surprised that his first stop was the fireplace. Moth to a flame, baby. Moth to a flame. He knows just how to give his Granny palpitations.

Because he has The Greatest Pop-Pop In The World, Cody was not that unsettled in his new room -- because it was painted exactly like his old room (thank you thank you Daddy!). And true to form, he was less interested in his toys than in the boxes.

And plenty of boxes there are. : ) More soon, dear readers (is adding the "s" overestimating our audience? :) but for the next few weeks, blogging will be a bit light. I'm just glad I could find my laptop. The charger is another question...
