Halloween Eve

Getting ready for the big day, we did a dry run of costumes -- though Cordelia will probably trade in her ballerina gear (Yes, Hannah -- that is a pink tutu you see! Bring back memories?!) for Cody's polar bear tomorrow. And there will be video.

A Couple of Cody Classics

Friday morning, as we were cuddling in Cody's chair, wayyyyy too early to be considered any sort of respectable hour:

Me: "So are you just having trouble sleeping?"
Cody: "No. I am just ready to get up. (Pause) Jesus is up on my cross!" (He's not.)
Me: "He is?"
Cody: "Yes. He loves me. He takes care of me! He helped me sleep! But now He says it is time to get up, so I am going to get up and take Jesus to Home Depot and buy him a new shop vacuum. And then we will go shopvac the garage together, like best buddies."

Yesterday, as I was trying to sneak a bite of the pastry JVL brought home for him:

Me: "Codes, can I have a bite?"
Cody: "No, Mommy. This cake is only for toddlers. It's Toddler Cake. And you are a grown-up, not a toddler, so you can't take any of my bites."
Me: "Ok. Well, I guess I'll just have a drink of water."
Cody: "You should do that. It is important for you to stay hydrated."

Then, JVL said, "Buddy, I have been at work so much this week. I've missed you so much." And Cody, trying to make sure he didn't feel bad, replied, "I missed you too Daddy! But don't worry. I didn't miss you SO much. But I missed you a little bit!"

And yesterday, spotting the moon on our way to Babies R Us in the morning:

Cody: "Mom! There's the MOON! It's still up!"
Me: "What?! Moon, you're supposed to be sleeping! What is the moon doing up during the day?"
Cody, very seriously: "Mommy, I think the sun got lonely. (Wonewy.) And so the moon decided to get up and go to keep him company. He is so kind."

Yes, he is.

Me & My Minivan

I know Cody already told you about the minivan. But I like it too! Because my brother does!

And remember this one from 2008?

Daddy and I did it too!

The Big Show

You won't believe it! Mommy let me in the real bathtub tonight -- without my little bathtub inside it! It was so much fun! I splashed and squealed and shrieked! And Cody hugged me! Actually hugged me! And then after our bath he let me paw him and he giggled and he patted me! I am so happy!

I Love My Brother

I don't have any words yet, so I can't tell my brother how much I love him. How happy I get when he plays with me, or says my name, or looks at me, or even when he's just in the same room with me and I can watch him play. I even like it when I can only hear his voice in the next room. It makes my heart so full. And so Mommy said it was time I got my own blogging privileges, so I can at least show in pictures how much I adore Cody John Paul.

Morning Strolling

She's clearly thinking, "Hey. Why does HE get that English muffin, and I get this plastic butterfly?"

The Golden Handcuffs

Cody has never had a cooler playset. Every morning now, he says, "After I eat breakfast can we go play in the minivan?"

I have never felt so old or suburban.

Born to Eat

The bird continues to excel at eating -- she likes to have her own spoon to "help" me feed her, and usually gets it in the right way. This week brought star puffs and cheerios into her world, and a happy turn of events that was.
Hey--where'd it go?

Still can't find it!
Later, we came in after her nap to find her chewing on her own little sock.

Hello. My name is Cody.

Story Time

Cody gives Cordelia a sneak preview of what bedtime will eventually be like.

Warning: This is about 3 minutes long.

C & C

Usually, Cody is off doing exciting things, while Cordelia is doing boring things.
But every so often, he'll consent to hang out with her...

...and even manages to enjoy himself. Camera angle doesn't show the look of utter adoration on her face. She's in heaven.

Falling for Fall

We had an absolutely gorgeous weekend. We put Cordelia's baby swing up, measured the back yard for a potential swingset (note Cody's excellent assistance) and enjoyed the sunshine. Cody even managed to play with Cordelia in the sandbox without too much guff (until she took his bulldozer), though this ended abruptly when she ate a fistful of sand.
