Christmas Highlights

"MOM! SANTA CAME! COME LOOK AT THE TREE!"

Cordelia's Second Christmas...

...was pretty great. She got in lots of practice of her "O Face" (and loved making us giggle by announcing "Cordelia do O face!" and waiting for us to laugh).

She had lots of bonding with "your Granny! Love your Granny!"

How beautiful is she?

(I'm pretty sure I wasn't supposed to see that last one.)
Sigh.

Note the determined face: interior monologue is something like, "Awesome. Now it's time to knock it DOWN!" The external monologue that followed was "KNOCK IT DOWN NOW!"

The Dyson

For those of you who don't know, Cody has always had a fascination with vacuums. And asked Santa for a Dyson for Christmas. Well, Santa delivered. He left it all the way behind the tree, so Cody didn't notice until well after we had done presents. He looked a little worried the whole time...even when playing with his beloved mixer (also compliments of S. Claus, The North Pole).

His elation upon realizing that Santa had not forgotten him and that there was Something Huge Back There was palpable. His whole little body vibrated. His joy was complete. As was ours. Isn't that strange? I mean, it's an orange vacuum. And yet.

He set to work immediately, and the two haven't been parted much since. He vacuums probably 10-12 times a day. My floors have never been so clean, and he assured me, "Mommy, you will never, ever, ever have to vacuum again! From now on Dyson and I will do it!"

He's an odd, dear child.

Dyson, by the way, now sleeps next to Cody's bed. "So he doesn't get wonewy!"

Must Be Santa!

Pigtails and Razors

Let me interrupt the Christmas blogging to announce that Cordelia and I have discovered pigtails! Her hair is now so long and unruly that it's always in her face when we leave it down. Have you ever seen anything more adorable?

Wait. Before you answer that, check out this handsome lad.

Christmas Eve

Merry Christmas! Here are a few highlights from Christmas Eve. The biggest highlight of all was that the kids made it through the children's Vigil Mass with only a few meltdowns, all of them by Cordelia (it was just too long for her and even my action-packed activity bag didn't cut it toward the end.) The kids looked great, particularly Birdie in her velvet. Behold!

Cody wrote a very sweet note to Santa, leaving cookies, milk, and carrots for the reindeer.
