Checkups!

The kids had their annual checkups today at their new doctor's office (only 5 minutes away! yay!) They were both troopers, particularly Cody, who got FOUR vaccinations. Quick recap: Cody weighs in at 42 pounds (I said, "That's it? You're kidding." He feels so much heavier!) and is 43" tall. For those of you keeping score, that's 95th percentile for height (he gets it from me) and 88th percentile for weight, with a perfect BMI of 55%.

Little Mary weighed in at a whomping 28 pounds (again, that's it?!) and 36", putting her in the 94th percentile for height and 79th percentile for weight. Head circumference=as huge as always, at 90th percentile. (They gave up on measuring Cody's.) She didn't get her shots today because she woke up with a 101.6 fever (though she seems pretty okay) so we'll go back for that. They both blew the doctor and nurses away with their astonishing vocabulary -- to the point where the doctor said, "She just turned TWO?" as she chatted away in her long, complex, beautifully-constructed sentences. Best moment was when he asked Cordelia if she had a baby she played with. She stared scornfully at him and answered, "Yes. I have a baby. But I like to play with excavators! And DUMP TRUCKS!" He almost fell out of his chair laughing.

Two happy, healthy, thriving kids. I'm counting my blessings.

For sure. What troopers! Love Cordelia's walking stick. She's a girl after Uncle Mark's heart. :)
