Today is Cody's first official snow day! It's a pretty good snowstorm, especially by Virginia standards. Usually what happens is that snow is forecasted, and obsessed over, and prepared for -- by which I mean the roads are pre-pre-pre-treated with stuff that never comes off your car, and people (and I am not kidding) buy every single roll of toilet paper in the state, just in case they really have to poop -- A LOT -- in the twelve hours they might be stuck inside. Predictions are made. Schools are closed in advance. A mix of panic and excitement fills the air. Kids can't sleep. Parents are atwitter: Will the government close? And then...
...it drizzles. Maybe.
But today is the real deal! We all wore our pajamas inside out last night to make sure it really would snow.
It worked!
Most interesting to the kids was the snow piled up on top of the clothesline. Cool, right? :) Right now, the kids are outside with JVL while I'm (a little sadly) inside with Miss Emma, who is far too little to be out there, but is enjoying watching the flakes. She's not sad. We're listening to Frank Sinatra.
It took roughly 35 minutes to get them in their gear (I'm including the time spent braiding Cora's hair -- how cute is this?!)...
...so I'm anticipating they'll want to come in after about 12 minutes. We have high hopes for a memorable day, but I'm not so sure. I told Cody about our childhood tradition of digging and sledding outside with Pop-Pop and the neighborhood kids and then coming in for warm grilled cheese. To which he responded, "No, we're not going to do that, unless we go to Panera, I guess, because I'm really tired of your grilled cheese." Again, the fantasy of parenthood and memory-making not exactly matching up to the real thing. : ) But we shall see how the day goes!

HAHAHAHAHA!!! How great is this?! This blog is the best. Right now I don't feel so far away. Get old towels handy for when they come in and drip all over those shiny floors. Also, peanut butter toast and hot chocolate works!
Emma is gorgeous!
Thanks, Shay. xxxx
Happy Snowquester, indeed. At least you guys actually GOT SNOW! We got puddles. Lots, and lots, and lots of puddles.
