Last Saturday, Cordelia was baptized at St. Matthew's. Faithful readers will recognize the setting and the priest. It was a big success -- not just because of the whole renouncing Satan thing, but because she was an absolute angel throughout, as was her brother. As we extended hands for the Holy Spirit to come upon her, a little smile played across her lips. I'm pretty sure it was spiritual gas--Cordy's own special incense. And Cody was very...participatory. It was kind of like call-and-response service between him and Monsignor Jameson. The rest of us were pretty much just the laugh track. The crowning moment came just after Monsignor poured the oil of Chrism onto Cordelia's head. Into the solemn silence which followed, a voice spoke (and not the "still, small" kind): "Good JOB!" Here are some pictures from the blessed event...

This would be the "Good job!" moment:

Back at the house:

A huge, huge thank you (and hugs) to Grandma Robbie and her sidekick, known simply as, "Tom!" who came all the way from Michigan to celebrate with us. We could not ask for dearer, truer friends--and honorary grandparents. (Cordelia clearly agrees.)

Whew. All that celebrating can really tucker a little bird out.

Amen!
