Joy to the Lord

Cordelia seems to get sweeter every day; we are enjoying her so much. She now talks all the time--everything you say, she repeats back, and extremely well. "Doctor! Bluegrass! Mama's cup -- no! School! Rain, rain, go away! Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do! Maria! Diaper! Wet! Upstairs! Bath! Shower!" And that's just a sampling. It's crazy. But like all things Cordelia, it was not particularly gradual. She just decided. And did. And did beautifully. It's wonderful to know what's going on in her little head and hear her tell you in her earnest, decisive little way.

Anyway, she pointed to Bathrobe Mary during dinner tonight and said, "Who!" I told her it was Mary. "Mare! Hold!" Then she wanted to hold Joseph, who himself is holding Jesus, and when I asked who it was she said clear as a bell, "Jesus! Cross." Yes. Well.

Anyway, she hugged them, then smacked their heads together and said with a grin, "Cheers!"

I am pretty sure this has never been done or said before in this context.

I wasn't actually positive that's what she meant, so I said, "Can you tell me again?" She repeated the gesture, banging them together heartily, but tried Italian this time, saying, "Cin cin!"

That's my girl. Cheers, Mary. Cin cin, Jesus. From her lips to your ears.
