Girls Weekend

This past weekend, the boys headed to the beach for some Official Guy Time (bowling, surfing, go-karts, arcade games, ice cream, pizza, castle-building) and I had my girls all to myself on a rainy weekend. Cordelia had plans. Big plans. Nearly all of them involved baking. The rest involved not sleeping. It turns out, as she told me, "I cannot possibly sleep without Cody. It will break my heart with loneliness." (Did I mention we signed her up for a drama class?) I was kind of excited about crawling into bed before 9:00…but she was somehow still awake. So in she came, and I wound up with someone snuggly and snoring beside me all night, anyway. : ) It was actually very sweet, though reminded me how glad I am to have never allowed the kids to sleep with us. I need my space, man. : )

Anyway — here are some highlights from the weekend. A visit with Fiona! The bookstore! The 40th birthday of their favorite barista! Dress-up! Cookies! And, inexplicably, a green highlighter beard. (I was wondering why she was so quiet in the back of the car.)

Love the apron. Love the licking. Love this girl.

Here, she looks like she's 11. Maybe it's the leggings.
This one was an instant classic. Emma wipes out and then sobs to Cordelia, "What's the MATTER, Emma? Poor baby! You have an ouchie! It's okay! I'm right here!"

I love the look of utter distrust on Fi's face.
Oh, and let's not forget her practicing her teenage eye rolls.

It was all very exhausting. : )
