Guys Weekend

Last weekend Cody, Uncle Chris, and I went to the beach. The usual rules about Guys Weekend apply--what happens on Guys Weekend, stays on Guys Weekend. But a few highlights are in order. First, as soon as we got to the condo, we opened up Cody's new surfboard, a 5'4" quad fish. He loved it. Here he is, leashed up, and ready to go in his new wetsuit top:

Once we got out it only took him about 15 minutes before he caught a wave and then--to my total surprise--jumped up on the board and surfed it into the beach, standing. No help from me. It was one of the proudest moments I've ever had with him and I'm a little heartbroken that I don't have pictures or video for you. Because it was amazing. He's totally got it. By next summer, standing up on the board will be second nature to him, I think.

The girls on the field hockey team don't have a chance . . .

We spent a lot of time on the beach, surfing, jumping waves, and digging. At night there was pizza and mini golf and go-karts. He rode with me only once and did every other race riding shotgun with Uncle Chris:

Needless to say, they left me in the dust, every time.

We had one cloudy and rainy day, so we took him bowling. He loved it:

And for this, I do have video. High levels of awesome:

All in all, a wonderful weekend.

He is all boy, isn't he? I remember his first time in EI, sprawled on a little inflatable surfboard in the living room, trying to hold his head up. Amazing.
