Instead, this is a catch up from two weeks ago, the Saturday afternoon when Shannon and Cody went for their Medieval Times adventure.
The girls and I were left to our own devices, so we went to the pumpkin patch, where we spent nearly all of our time sliding on the big slide and playing in the bouncy ball pit.
The big slide--which you may remember from this video as "fun":
Was even more fun with two girls:
The only other ride that caught their fancy was the big wooden school bus. Cordelia drove, exuberantly. Emma was a reluctant passenger. This is what our world will look like in twelve years, by the way:
1) Cordelia, in the basement, delightedly trapping herself in the hamper:
2) Cody helping Cordelia with her reading at bedtime (look how happy she is):
3) About three weeks ago we took a hike and saw a real, live copperhead. This pleased none of the children as much as you might have imagined. On the way home, when we had to pass the snake again, Cody took the lead with his sword and Cordelia hung back--way back--and clung to SLL:

I look forward every year to Halloween and ball pit pictures and trains and spookies at the nursery. These are wonderful! In the photo of Cordelia in the laundry hamper, she looks just like Shannon! And Emma, you trip down the slide with Daddy was FUN!!
Love you so much.
JVL: Have I told you lately what a wonderful Dad you are?
The hamper picture is pretty stinking awesome. How... why?!
